'EPO, I Love You'

EPO I love you. Because of you I will be number one. Because of you I will get to wear the nicest jersey. I’m riding my bike in the country side, without much effort and no complex. When I feel a little tired, I stop by the road and use an old remedy to get me going again. And when I reach the end of the stage, I’m acclaimed as a hero. I don’t drink the champagne, I prefer my EPO. “Attention everyone, every morning, with EPO, be one step ahead.” I’ll be prettier than Laurent Fignon, stronger than Polidor, crazier than Virenque and much nicer than Bernard Hinault. Thanks to you my EEEEEEEPO. (Translation courtesy of VeloNews)

In the runup to the Grand Depart on Saturday of the 2007 Le Tour de France here is the official unofficial theme song of the world's most prestigious bike odyssey.

The song titled EPO, Te Quiero (EPO, I Love You) alludes to the doping agent called erythropoietin (EPO), allegedly used by not a few pro cyclists to boost their endurance.

Sung in French and in Spanish, EPO, Te Quiero is composed by Franck Lascombes, dressed in the video as a Mexican musician riding a bike as he sings:

EPO te quiero, grace a toi je serai numero uno (EPO I love you, thanks to you I will be number one.)

Strange that I find it funny though I don't understand most parts of the song.
